Since shortly before the Spring ‘13 shows, editorial & runway began embracing the crown in creative and interesting ways. Now the crown is moving to very wearable jewelry as well - such as this cool ring. Floral headpieces have always fun for Coachella, so no doubt we predict the embrace of new DIY styled crowns this April’s Coachella. Oh and we’re putting our bets on celebs like Nicole Richie and the Olsens wearing it right.

Earlier we mentioned that bowties were making a comeback. So we put together this DIY tutorial for you. Quick and easy, you’ll be rocking this trend soon enough.

This weekend, take out your scarves and turn them into bows!

Step 1: Choose a scarf.

Step 2: Fold corner to corner. Meet in the middle.

Step 3: Fold in half.

Step 4: Fold sides to meet the middle.

Step 5: Tie knot in the middle.

Step 6: Tuck corners in. Fluff for extra oomph!

Step 7: Wear & rock!

We’ve been totally inspired by the stealth comeback of the zippered jean. Besides the jean, we’re seeing zippers on sleeves, leather pants, in front, side and back. So our founder Heather Lipner braved up and put together a quick DIY tutorial for our weekly Weekend Warrior post. Go through the slideshow to check out the steps and more inspiration.

This weekend take your old skinnies and open ‘em up at the ankles :) 

Step 1: Do a quick measurement by placing your zipper where you’d like the zipper to go.

Step 2: Pin your pants so you know where your zipper will start. 

Step 3: Rip your seams or cut your pants in the spot your zipper is being placed.

Step 4: Pin in your zipper in. Make sure you flip over your pants so you can see how it will look and then fix any imperfections.

Step 5: Sew in your zipper. Start from the top. It’s easier to hand sew the very top.

Step 6: Wear the babies.

This is Ground creator Mike Macadaan chats with us about his Make a Rad Stamp DIY kit and how he named his brand.

How did you name “This is Ground?”

The raddest stamp I’ve made was the great white shark profile a la Jaws — it was raw, fierce and a big contrast from the fluffy unicorn stamps I remember as a child. I used this stamp to make wrapping paper and even splattered some red paint on for an extra punch. It was fun and festive in a much different way for sure.
